Frequently Asked Questions
Google Document
What is it?
This year your student has been given a link to a google document. This is a place for your student to do their writing online. You do not need to save anything ever or create any type of login. It is all set up for your student through their teachers account. This link was given to your student in class or emailed to them. Please bookmark the link. Please check in with your student to make sure that they are on track with their writing assignment. Unless we are just starting a new writing unit the document should never be blank!

To help you use the online guide and find the resources you need please download this quick how-to guide we've created with links and a video.
History Record Book
I didn’t receive a history record book. Where do I find it?
This is NOT provided in your materials. You will need to supply your student with either a three ring binder with loose paper or a spiral notebook. In the book, they will record all of their work for history for the school year.
School Supplies
What school supplies do I need for my 3rd grader? Do you have a supply list?
We do not have a 3rd grade supply list. Most of the supplies are sent to you in your welcome box needed for the curriculum. However, you will need to purchase things like pencils, pens, notebooks, paper (lined and plain), binders or folders for each subject, crayons, markers, and glue. There are also supplies needed for the science experiments, but many of them you will be able to find in your home already on hand. See the introduction of each curriculum subject for a list of materials needed for the subject.
Attendance Hours: Health, PE, and technology
There is no curriculum included for health, PE, and technology, so what do I do or count for those hours?
You must include hours for all of these subjects. Any hours your student spends doing something related to health, PE, or technology can count for these hours. For example:
Health: Lessons on healthy eating habits, hygiene, staying physically active, positive emotions.
P.E.: sport time your child participates in (practices or games), free play time, kickball game in your neighborhood that your child participates in, swimming lessons, exercise, a walk to the park
Technology: typing practice, internet games
Please see the section on the website HERE that gives other helpful resources for topics with lessons in these areas.
Internet Reimbursement
How do I get the internet reimbursement?
A certain amount is reimbursed to you from the school for internet costs. Checks are sent to families 2 times a year in the winter and summer. Please keep all your internet bills and look for the kmail with specific instructions in your kmail that is sent out later fall/early winter.

Sick Days/Emergencies
What happens if my student is sick or we have a family emergency and are unable to do school a day?
If your child is sick or there is a family emergency, the learning coaches should contact the homeroom teacher by phone or k-mail as soon as possible if your student will not be working on a regular school day. Please remember that multiple missing attendance/progress days can lead to truancy and any day your student misses for any reason will need to be made-up in both attendance time and lessons in the OLS. Attendance for Class Connect Sessions
Should I log attendance for Class Connect Sessions?
Yes. For example, if we have a 30 minute Class Connect session focused on fractions, you’d record 30 minutes of attendance under math. Most of our sessions have a curriculum focus but if they don’t you would log the time under Technology 3.
